Tirta Empul is an important temple complex and holy mountain spring. It is a national cultural heritage site. This temple has a legend about good versus evil.
Tirta Empul means ‘holy water spring’. This temple has a water spring source that never stop running. The spring feeds various purification baths, pools and fish ponds surrounding the outer perimeter. For your comfort, the water is not reused. All flow to the Tukad Pakerisan River.
Balinese believes that when you drink or bath yourself in the bathing pool, good things will happen. It’s like a bless to you.
At that time the water was cold. I saw Balinese was shaking while waiting to drink holy water.
This pond is the source of spring.
The resident on top of a hill is the presidential palace, Istana Tampaksiring, built during the years of the nation’s first president, Soekarno. I’m so impress with the way they built the palace. It’s look elegant but simple and peaceful.
